Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just one win at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.

Now training with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first championship after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of 2023.

Victory also means he has won twenty-one victories at 21 various events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.

His defensive strategy and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour championship, took control to force a third set.

Moutet defended 4 initial chances in a close third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner secured the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
